Pacific Princess and the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

'Le voyage ultime!' Paris may not be far from London but this grand circuit, by sea from the UK capital to the world capital of romance, Venice, and back to Paris onboard one of the world’s most luxurious trains offers an epic journey of grand proportions.

‘En avant!’ The journey begins the moment you depart Australia for London. Three nights in this great world city of tradition, pomp and ceremony will tease the senses for what lies ahead. Included is accommodation at the boutique No.11 Cadogan Gardens Hotel - an exclusive small hotel perfectly positioned in London's exclusive Chelsea area. A private car will transport you to Dover where you’ll board the beautiful Pacific Princess - a small, boutique ship much loved by Australians and boasting a big heart and a penchant for pampering. Your glorious, 23-night cruise to Venice will take you to 16 fascinating ports, many visited only by smaller vessels.

Your first destination is Le Havre on France's Normandy coast, where the Seine meets the English Channel. An unusual urban city, it displays many concrete examples of post-World War 2 architecture and murmurs of the allied landings on D-Day. Your voyage includes cities and centres that entice and fascinate such as La Coruna in Spain's Galicia region, a cultural hub oozing charisma. You’ll visit Gibraltar and its famous ‘Rock’, fought over for 13 centuries. In Barcelona, be dazzled by Gaudi's divine and wildly imaginative architecture and in charming little Sete and glamorous St Tropez in the south of France, you’ll sample the essence of Mediterranean life. Visit Florence, home of cerebral art, Pisa for splendid architecture and a crooked tower, the eternal city of Rome and Naples for an immersion into the heart of Italian passion and vibrancy. And then there’s Sicily with its laid-back beach towns and ancient villages that hint of the Godfather!

Ports in the fabled Aegean will show you the historical and mythological remnants of ancient Greece - places of antiquity like Rhodes, Khios with its castles and legacy of Homer, whose writings still resonate today, and Corfu in the Ionian Sea with its eclectic heritage of Venetian, French and British rule. Montenegro opens the door to Kotor and Croatia's Korcula in the Adriatic Sea - towns of medieval remains and towers fortifying safe haven harbours. After seldom-visited Ljubljana, you’ll disembark in Italy's grand dame, Venice, with an overnight stay providing time to explore the meandering maze of laneways and canals. There's classic shopping to be done here too - don't miss out on Murano glass and lace on the Venetian island of Burano.

You may leave 'La Serenissima' with a sigh but more romance beckons as you board the world-famous, polished to perfection Venice Simplon-Orient-Express for one of the most unforgettable nights of your life. Travelling in luxury to Paris through the heart of Europe, you’ll be indulged with champagne, sumptuous meals, impeccable service, deluxe accommodation and experience a rush of romance and just a hint of intrigue and mystery. At journey’s end you'll enjoy a 3-night finale in Paris at the extraordinary Le Meurice Hotel.

With views of the Tuileries Garden, Le Meurice has been ranked among the most elegant hotels in the world. Combining exceptional 18th century opulence with contemporary chic, Le Meurice is the perfect French palace hotel. Open since 1835, the hotel is conveniently located between Place de la Concorde and the Louvre.
It has many stories hidden within its walls and has seen countless celebrities and notable figures come and go. Perhaps relax at the rooftop Restaurant Le Dalí overlooking the Eiffel Tower and reflect on the glorious memories you’ve created on this ultimate journey around Europe.

Cabins convert in moments from daytime seating to a luxurious bedroom, all performed by cabin stewards whilst passengers enjoy a gourmet dinner in one of the three restaurant cars.

Twin cabins feature upper and lower berths while single cabins have one lower berth. During the day, berths are transformed to offer comfortable banquette seating. Cabin suites offer additional space, made up of two inter-connecting twin cabins. Toilet facilities are available in each carriage, luxuriously appointed and maintained to the highest standards by the stewards. As these are original 1920s carriages they do not have modern amenities such as showers.
